2D / 3D / 4D
2D A two-dimensional image is formed by converting the sound waves that were reflected back from the organs and the body. The reflected sound waves are converted to a flat cross section plane. Resulting in a 2D image. A 2D ultrasound also shows the movement of your child. You can follow live what happens in your bump. The stretching of an arm, the turning around and of course the well known kicking.

3D
3D With the aid of modern computer technology it is possible to store all the ultrasound information of the flat section planes. If all information has been gathered, all the still images can be converted to the 3D image. For moving planes like the heart this is not possible yet. A 3D echo may be a still image, but it will show you a lifelike depiction of your child. Clear contours are visible of the fingers, the nose, the lips, etc.
